I'm a new joiner to this site. :) It has helped me in many ways. Thanks a lot to all valuable information providers.

I'm a 2007 fresher, currently working for a midsize concern as an HR Executive (Internal). They have asked me to prepare a list of holidays. Can anyone help me out with a list of UK & US holidays???

Thank you.

Hi Arsha,

The UK has relatively few public holidays. They are usually described as Bank Holidays because they are days when banks are officially closed.

Hope the attached list for 2007, 2008 & 2009 helps. Please note that for Scotland, there are the following differences:

1) Easter Monday is not a bank holiday, although it is observed by many.

2) Summer Bank Holiday is the FIRST Monday in August, instead of the last Monday as in England & Wales, and falls on the 6th, 4th & 3rd of August for 2007, 2008 & 2009, respectively.

3) In January 2007, the St Andrew's Day Bank Holiday (Scotland) Act was given royal assent, making 30 November (or the nearest Monday if a weekend) a bank holiday in Scotland.
