Dear Dr. Hamada,

Many executives and CEOs think by being good to their subordinates is a good HRM policy! One should not be too goody-goody to all, at all time. Sometimes one has to be tough to steer the team in right direction. For this a leader requires lot of guts and a clear vision to take the team ahead. Your posting is a welcome addition because it contains the real ingredients of leadership.

The best way to motivate a team is to get self-motivated. Unless a leader himself is not motivated, he cannot motivate his team. So the lessons should start with oneself. Further, mere management skills are not sufficient. A leader should bring into play his personal qualities/traits/attributes into play and combining these with management skills one can succeed if he has an infinite patience. Motivation is not an easy task and one requires extra-ordinary skill to understand the followers needs and accordingly play his cards.

I thank you for the good posting. We look forward to many such useful and effective posts.
