Hi, can you please clarify whether there is any possibility of claiming the amount for the treatment taken in a private hospital from ESI? Since I am new to this field, I don't know how to proceed with this.

Hi Brindha, you cannot claim the amount from ESI for expenses incurred at private hospitals; it can only be claimed if you have received treatment from ESI dispensaries. However, if you have a Mediclaim policy that covers all diseases, you can claim the expenses from your service providers (TTK, Allen Kit, etc.).

If no ESI dispensary is available nearby from your dwelling location, or if the treatment is not available in an ESI hospital, any charges spent in case of a medical emergency are eligible to be reimbursed from the ESI. The only requirement is that you have to prove to ESIC that it was mandatory to take such treatment in a private hospital.

Note: Hereby, I want to request the "Ignorant Members" that if you are not sure about "The Law," then refrain from giving wrong personal judgment or assumption on this public forum.
