Hi,

I accepted an offer a week ago by sending the office a signed offer, but now another better company (far better) has extended me an offer. I am wondering if I decline the accepted offer to take the second one, would I have trouble like getting sued? Thank you.

P.S.: The first office's policies require a two-week notice period, and I will start working for them in one month. I can't find any terms about breaching the offer.

In this case, nothing will happen to you as there was no penalty clause for revoking the offer. When an offer is accepted, it becomes a contract. As there was no penalty clause for breaking the contract, you can relax.

There's no problem in breaking the offer, but just think—what will you do if you have already joined and then get another good offer? Try to be stable with one company. You might experience good career growth if you maintain stability by working for a company for a long time.

From your post, I presume that you have only received an Offer Letter and that you are yet to join the organization. Right? The date of your joining is about one month away. Under the circumstances, what you should do is to convey to the Company from whom you have received the Offer that, on account of certain compelling reasons, you will not be able to join them. You may do so immediately and not wait for the last moment. Don't worry, you cannot be sued. Cheers!!! Vasant Nair
