Dear community,

My name is Swapnil, and I am currently employed at an FM radio channel. As I'm new to this field, I'm finding it challenging to understand the process of salary calculation. Can anyone guide me on how to calculate DA (Dearness Allowance) and the applicable taxes? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice that you work for a Radio FM in Delhi or Mumbai.

Dearness Allowance is normally 50% of your Basic. It depends upon the organization since you are a female; in your case, income up to Rs. 145,000 is tax-free for the financial year 2007-2008. If you are earning more than that, you need to save to reduce the net effect. You can save up to Rs. 1,10,000 per year, including Medical Insurance for self and dependents.

Hope this solves your query.

Hi friend,

Attached is an Excel file which I've received from here itself. Please take a look at this. The salary breakdown percentages are displayed on the right-hand sheet. You can adjust those according to your company's policies.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Feel free to reach out.

Thanks,
Krish
