dear all
i have gone all posts given by friends but most of us donot have idea of DA or VDA.
Basically in private sector we call it VDA and govt sector it is call it DA.
VDA it is basically varaible and it is not at all percentage based as mentioned by our few friends.it is calculated on the basis of all india conumer price index.
now i will explain with example of utter pradesh because it varies state to state.
in U P we check and change VDA in twice a year ie in oct and apr.
EXAMPLE OF U.P.
-------------------
U.P. govt with their notification dated 24 th feb 2006 fixed basic of all category of workers on average price index 522 and these rates were as given below
unslikked-Rs 2600
semiskilled-Rs2964
skelled--rs 3290
mind it it was basic and no vDA that time now VDA will change every year in the month of oct and apr.
now in oct 2008 rates of minimum wages were as given below

BASIC VDA TOTAL
UNSKILLED 2600 562.83 3163
SEMI-SKILL 2964 641.63 3606 (IN ROUND FIGURE)
SKILLED 3290 712 4202

now VDA has to increase wef 01 apr 2009.for that we have to find out the average of all india price index from jan 2008 to june 2008.

ALL INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX
JAN2008 662
FEB2008 671
MAR2008 676
APR2008 685
MAY2008 685
JUN2008 681
--------
TOTAL 4060
NOW WE HAVE TO DIVDE 4060 BY 6 TO GET AVERAGE WHICH COMES TO 676.67
SAY 677
NOW WE CAN CALCULATE VDA WEF 01 APR 2009

UNSKILLED------(677-522 )*2600
----------------- = 772.03
522
NOW MINIMUM WAGES for unskilled is 2600+772.03=3373

SEMISKILLED-----(677-522)*2964
------------------ =880.11
522
NOW MINIMUM WAGES FOR SEMI SKILLED IS 2964+880.11=3845

SKILLED----------(677-522)*3290
------------- =976.92
522
NOW WAGES FOR SKILLED IS 3290+976.92=4267
this is how we calculate VDA

Dear to all
As per act coverage will be 20 or more employees for PF Contribution. Presently if the strength is below 20 it is possible for applying PF Contribution or not required.
Thanks

Hai,
Still i am a little bit confused. Will u please clearly explain DA calculation.
DA is actually a variable component, it will be revised on every financial year. But i got data of CPI for every individual month, I have a doubt here, whether we have to take Average CPI for all the 12 months or not. If that is the case then % change in CPI over 2 succesive years is nothing but inflation.
I am totally confused please clear this for me.
