Sir,

In the PF Pension scheme, the PF Department is asking for age proof, i.e., school leaving certificate, Election card, License. However, in some of the workers' cases, they don't have any age proof.

What should we do if Government-certified doctors issue any age proof? Is it valid or not?

Please advise.

As I understand, they do not insist on age proof for the members and their spouses, but they will ask for age proof of children only. This is because the pension is available to the member until their death, and the same applies to the widow's pension. However, children's pension is only available until they reach the age of 25.

While joining the EPF, a member's age proof is required for various reasons.

1. Eligibility for superannuation pension is based on completing 58 years. After that, there will not be any contribution to the pension fund.

2. The age for eligibility for the minimum reduced pension is 50 years.

3. In the case of availing pension before the age of 58 years, a 4% reduction will be applied to the pensionable amount for each year below 58 years.
