Hi, I'm Shravan, and I've completed MBA (HR) in the year 2009. As 2009 was badly hit by recession, I could not get placed in the HR field, so I've joined an MNC as a customer care executive. Now that there is no recession, I want to transition back to the HR field. Please assist me on how I can gain experience and secure an HR job. I would be thankful if somebody could help me out with this.

Dear Shravan, You can start with any consultancy to gain some exp. ( Although it will be in recruitment) After having some exp you can go for good reputed companies. Dev Agarwal

Hi,

I would suggest the same. Consultancy will give you experience only in recruitment, but through that, you will also build contacts and networks in the corporate world, which can help you transition into it.

Hi,

After working for 3 years in a world-leading manpower sourcing company, here is what I have observed. Anyone looking to enter the HR field should consider starting out in a B-grade company that offers entry-level positions with a salary below 1 lakh CTC per annum. Trust me, individuals who began their careers in local organizations as core HR/HR generalists with this salary range are now receiving better job offers (higher CTC) from the market. On the other hand, despite now working in a renowned organization as an Assistant Manager in HRD, I have been receiving limited offers compared to them. Previously, I faced rejections from many organizations because I specialized in recruitment with limited knowledge of legal compliance. However, thanks to God, I eventually transitioned into a core HR role. Meanwhile, those who started in local companies are now experts in all HR compliances and core roles.

If you aspire to join top MNCs in HR core/generalist roles, I recommend starting in a B-grade organization with core/generalist profiles.

In consultancies, recruitment is often more focused on sales rather than HR.

Before joining a B-grade company, ensure to assess their internal environment and confirm that they provide offer letters, appointment letters, ESIC, PF, payslips, and a proper notice period to employees. Conduct a thorough evaluation before accepting any offers.

Post your CV on platforms like Naukri, Monster, Times Jobs, and other portals. Ensure to use proper filters and keywords to avoid receiving offers unrelated to HR jobs. You can also submit your CV to consultancies for core HR job opportunities.

Seek guidance from other HR managers (not consultancies) for further advice.

Hi, I am an MBA in HR since 2006. I have one year of experience in an electronics company as an HR executive, but due to some family problems, I had to leave my job. After 2 years, I want to re-enter the workforce, but my confidence is now quite low, and I am unsure how to start. Should I apply as a fresher or as someone with 1 year of experience? I am looking for job opportunities in Uttarakhand, but I am struggling to find any openings there. If you have any information about consultants or job openings, please email me at [sumankotarya@gmail.com](mailto:sumankotarya@gmail.com). Please help me regain my confidence.
