Hey Rads,

For all Middle East countries, you are governed by the contract of your agreement. Usually, in all Middle East countries, there is nothing like layoffs for expats. Since all expats are brought in as workers on a contract, which is for a fixed or unlimited period.

One cannot question layoffs in the Middle East. All companies will have to follow their contract and can terminate the service as per the notice period mentioned in the contract.

Dubai is worst affected due to the recession. In my brother's firms, 6000 staff were sent back in 15 days. I suggest you look for a job immediately rather than spending time on this, as we know this would be a waste of your precious time.

All the best.

Regards,
ukmitra
