Dear All,
I am working in the retail industry (garment sector), and my company is currently undergoing restructuring. I am seeking some information regarding grades and pay scales. We operate 10 units across seven locations.
My team and I have been assigned the task of preparing the employees' grades and determining their corresponding pay scales. I need guidance on how to assess and assign grades to the employees. Additionally, I would like to know about the prevailing market pay rates in the retail industry.
Please assist me with the above inquiries.
Sincerely,
Sriram V B

Pay Band & Grade Pay are similar. The recent development is Pay Band. A band is nothing but grading the employee as per their job description and connecting their pay to their band or grade. Since I have been in retail, I would like to share something which I hope may be useful to you.
Grade Designation Pay
- Grade 1: Customer Support Rep Trainee - Rs. 4500
- Grade 2: Customer Support Rep - Rs. 5500
- Grade 3: Sr. CSR - Rs. 6500
- Grade 4: Jr. Executive - Rs. 7500
- Grade 5: Executive - Rs. 8500
- Grade 6: Sr. Executive - Rs. 9500 and it goes on.
The difference between the grades in their salary can be obtained from your management. Hope it is clear.
