Dear all,

I would like to start an HR consultancy of my own, but considering factors such as the downturn in IT requirements and its related sector, employment crisis, economic meltdown, recession, and other related issues, I am hesitant to make a clear decision. Please advise me on making a precise decision by sharing your opinions.

Thanks in advance,
Saravana

Hi,

Which consultancy are you planning to start? If it's an HR consultancy, then based on my experience and knowledge gained during this recession period, it may not be ideal.

The sky is the limit if you establish and sustain the business during this time and generate revenue through the domestic market. Recession serves as a learning opportunity for all small and medium-sized organizations. My belief is that if I prove myself during this time by running the business efficiently with minimal costs and achieving high results, there will be no stopping me from moving forward and conducting business successfully every time.

Cheers,

Hi Saravanan,

What I suggest is, if you think you are gutsy enough to prove your abilities, face all the challenges that come your way, and succeed, you can surely start up. Though it's a recession time, there are still some companies that are hiring. What I suggest to you is not to confine to IT recruitments at this point. Explore all possible verticals like IT and Non-IT too. Try to target medium-sized companies where the competition is less. Also, do not go with a huge investment. Cut short the expenses and start with a minimal basic setup to keep control on the expenses.

I wish you all the best! Just believe in yourself and your abilities and give it your best shot. Be confident... Just confident... not overconfident.

Dear Mr. Saravana,

Your idea is not bad. But in this struggling situation, you should not expect profit. Also, you should prepare yourself to get your fingers dirty. However, this situation shall change by mid-2009 as economists and business analysts have predicted. Once the market gains momentum, you will have business opportunities.

The foundation without expectations that you want to lay may yield results after a few months. All the best.

Dear Mr. Badlu,

It is quite strange to read your anguished advice. This platform is common for all to share views, ideas, and knowledge without hurting anyone. Please, in the future, avoid wasting people's time here with such answers. Be polite and act in a friendly manner. All the best to you too.

Opening HR Consultancy During Crisis

Dear all,

I would like to start an HR consultancy in partnership. I want to know what the steps are to start an HR consultancy. I am confused about some questions:

- How much finance do I need?
- What is the registration procedure for that?
- In what way do consultancy companies work in their procedures?
- Which job portals and advertisements are effective for developing the business?
- How can clients be found if I want to open in Gujarat (Ahmedabad)?
- Are there any other items that I need to consider? Kindly advise me.

Thank you.

Dear Saravanan and Shreyansh,

Neither of you is ready, so please don't start a new venture now. This suggestion is based on your questions on this topic. However, since I could be wrong, and you are the best judge of your readiness, here is a page that might help you come to an objective decision on your own:

Are you ready to start a business? Are you ready to start your business?

Good luck.
