As per my knowledge the currect slab is :

Note the following changes in the Profession Tax Rates for salary and
Wage Earners w e f 01.08.2008. ( In Karnataka ).
As per the latest amendment the salary earners upto 4999 will be
exempt from PT and the remaining slabs are applicable as it was
earlier.
KARNATAKA TAX ON PROFESSIONS, TRADES, CALLINGS AND EMPLOYMENTS ACT, 1976:
Amendments to the Schedule:
(i) By amendment to entry Sl.No.1, salary or wage earners with monthly
salary or wage of Rs.3,000 and above but less than Rs.5,000 are
exempted from Professions Tax with effect from 1.8.2008.

Can any one tell me what minimum % of Gross Salary can be kept as the basic salary according to the new ammended rules in WB. And for keeping the basic salary at minimum range what bifurcations ( along with their % break up) can be done in the gross salary.
