Dear HR folks

Letter Writing is an art and very few number of people practice it.

We have few letters written today that are worthy of leaving behind for future generations to enjoy and learn from.

Let us reflect positively on this art of letter writing, and give it a try.

Why don't we write some interesting business-personal letters ourselves and post it in the forum for present and future generations, which in turn would cause all other HR folks in this forum to do likewise.

We could start an epidemic of good letters! These letters can be of HR letters/appreciation letters/business letters/circulars/sales letters/notices/personal letters but not LOVE LETTERS.

Write/Post letters, circulars that are above and beyond the normal ones.

I will start with one

regards

LETTER I

Dear …

One of the hardest things that a manager is required to do at times, is ask an employee to postpone their vacation. I know how much you were looking forward to a long overdue vacation with your family and having to ask you to postpone these plans is very difficult for me.

As you know, we are under a tight schedule to meet our __ (name of project)__ deadline, which unfortunately, cannot be delayed. Without your contribution I'm afraid we will not succeed in meeting our deadline. I am sorry to have to ask you to postpone a much needed and well deserved vacation, but we really need your help to get us through this critical time.

I thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter and appreciate you coming through for the team. Rest assured, your loyalty will not go unforgotten

Sincerely,

-PENMETSA

I believe your contribution significantly enhanced our prospects of receiving funding for this important research. You personify excellence and serve as a role model for others to emulate. Thank you again for helping us secure this important research project.

Hi Penmesta,

Good initiative taken. I feel the need of the hour is for any professional to draft a good letter. It is pathetic to see that even a postgraduate doesn't know how to write a simple leave letter.

Dear Penmetsa,

This is no doubt a good initiative - letter writing is an art. Everybody in this forum should post a letter that they drafted or received. I will also post a letter soon. Thanks once again.

These letters will act as a reference material and will help others to draft nice circulars. The two letters posted already are well-drafted.

With regards,

Leave letter writing is also an art.

An employee applied for leave as follows: Since I have to go to my village to sell my land along with my wife, please sanction me one week leave.

Another employee applied for half-day leave as follows: Since I have to go to the cremation ground and I may not return, please grant me half-day casual leave.

A friend of mine had written a leave letter to the headmaster: As I am studying in this school and suffering from a headache, I request you to grant me leave today.

A family friend of ours told an incident of his friend's letter: I am suffering from a fever; please declare a holiday for the school.

Another leave letter written to the headmaster: As my headache is paining, please grant me leave for the day.

Another leave letter written to the Administration department: As my mother-in-law has expired, and I am responsible for it, please grant me 10 days leave.

Sales Meet Circular

Dear All, measure your success not on the level of profit you're making today, but on the level of the referrals you're getting today. The only good sale is the one that leads to the next sale.

In order to review and set challenging goals and boost yourself to achieve them, the management has organized a Sales Meet on 12th and 13th January 2015 at the Indore Head Office. All the Engineers, Managers, and Branch Heads are requested to make their travel plans in such a way that you can join the meeting in the morning and leave by the night of the 13th or the morning of the 14th.

So start the year strong, set milestones throughout the year to track progress, as it is a great opportunity to challenge yourself to grow, both personally and professionally.
