What is the criteria on which we decide to evaluate Summer/Student training in companies. What is the procedure and criteria for giving a Pre-placement Offer.(PPO). Please share knowledge if some body knows about the formal criteria for the same

In my previous company, we used to have summer trainees ( technical ) go through a rigoruous training program coupled with real life application work, they were also given special tailored work that was desinged to evaulate logical/analytical/problem solving and other critical future job success parameters.
Based on the performance and the standards we had created internally for recruits we use to make offers to join our team end of their studies.

Hi Vaibhav,

In my previous organizations we had the following system:

1. Summer/winter projects : The assignments were given pertaining to actual problems in the market or functional areas which were required to be analysed and had to give the presentation & report at the end of two months to the Top Management Team.

2. Mentoring - These students were rated by the departmental Heads and mentors.

3. Desired competency profile:-

4. In some cases esp in marketing projects if it involved retail or customer survey - we took discrete feedback from the retailers/distibutors/customers. Why? - this gives an insight about his/her approach or attitude - here i have come across that some of the students who were just anxious to fill up the forms rather than actually finding out the solutions or identifying the bottlenecks. Also are these people comfortable with him/her ultimately he has to work with them in future..

Hope this of some help to you.

Cheerio
