Hi,
This is a very interesting scenario encountered by me during leave settlement against salary.
I was having -25 days negative leave balance for 2014,so HR told me that they are going to deduct the salary for these days.I requested them to do so in parts not in a single go.So they deduct my 6.8 days of salary and credited 5 days of leave to my account. As (30/22)*5=6.8.
Is this practice legal at all? That means you are paying only for the working 22 days in a month.:)..Please advice at the earliest.

Hi, According to your question, Salary is going to pay for 30 days not for 22 days. Please clear this with your HR

Leaves are credited on the basis number of working days and salary is being processed on the basis on number of Calendar Days. So we have to convert working days into calendar days.
Your salary has been deducted for 5 working days which is equal to 6.8 Calendar days.
1 Working day = 30/22 Calendar Days
5 working days = 30/22*5 = 6.818 Calendar days
So,this is the response that I got from HR.What Should I do in this case?Should I ask for policy document for the same?

Hi,
Although I am losing from this thing. But assume one situation-Suppose someone takes leave for 1 month. Then leaves that is negative = Number of working days and salary deducted = whole month.
So,this seems a bit logical.
Please suggest guys!
