Dear All,
In many organizations, freshers are given an opportunity to undergo on-the-job training for a certain duration which is subsequently increased.
These interns are paid Stipends and are paid in cash/cheque.
My queries are
a. What is the maximum duration upto which we can keep a person as a trainee?
b. is there a salary bracket that has been mentioned in any of the labour laws/acts for such cases?
Please do share your experience/views on the above

Internship period depends on company to company or you may say sector to sector. For ex in PepsiCo the internship period is for 6 months, in air bus internship period is for 5 months.......it is only the companies policies on which internship period depends. Also if any company wants to start a project so the expected time to get the work done would be the duration of internship.
and for stipend nothing has been mentioned in any laws.as internship is only for candidate's own learning. But there are some companies which are paying very high stipends like Asian paints 25k,philips 15k etc.
