Dear All,

I am posting one exercise on the concept of 'english through pop music'

hope u all enjoy it. this is based on the song 'opposites attract' by Paula Abdul. You can download the song from the net.

Match the pairs that show incompatibility and then check answers while listening to the song (Use the empty coloumn to fill in your choices)

Also gyess ahead which lines are sung by the female voice and which by the male and of the pair which part occurs first in the song. Discuss reasons for this. The discussion elicits answers from the learners about the rules of cohesion and draws their attention to use of cohesive devices

Cuz I move slowly And I like TV

I dont like cigarettes And you take'em light

I go to bed early I take two steps back

I like it quiet And I love to shout

I take it easy And I party all night

I take things serious And he steals the covers

I'm like a minus And he makes a mess

One going up Baby I get obsessed

She like it neat And he's always broke

She makes the Bed And I like to Smoke

She's got the money She's like a plus

You like the movies One coming down

You can make your own exercises

Regards,
