Dear Kavitha,

for new joinees you will have to chalk out ways to find out what were the exact reasons for them to abscond. This can be done through having a closer look or studying how their department is functioning. In my experience when i encountered such a problem we did a study of the way that new joinees department is working by analysing the people's behaviour, gathering facts of what was happening in the department in discreet yet informal way.

We also spoke to the friends of the new joinees and thus many reasons for their absconding coukl be traced from all this.Create informal groups which will also help you provide good insights in this regard. Please also ensure that there is a proper hand holding for the new joinees in the organisation. in many cases assigning buddy alone is not enough.Maintain interaction with new joinees to understand their problems. grievences formally and informally.

For SWOT analysis you can take a particular department or you can take 2-3 departments together for a brainstorming session or alternatively you can also conduct a survey in your organisation which will provide good insights on your organisations strengths and weaknesses internal and external both. You may also make use of targeted questionnaires.

Please also analyse your organisations from the following aspects:-

staffing - does your organisation have right number and quality of people,

Systems and Policies - What kind of policies and systems are prevailing in line with culture.

Shared values - are the values understood by all employees and they being practised.

Hope this helps.

Hello Kavita,
Your presentation and comments from seniors and experts are useful and informative.
I am also working on employee retention policy for the company. Preparing in pen and paper is easy but it is very difficult tin implementing the same.
I would like to add that competitive pay, positive working environment and continuous development programs are major factor for employee retention. Beside this open house and proper grievance address system will be added advantage.
Kindly keep updated about your experiences in implementing.
