Dear sir,
There is a problem held with the esic,i,e,the esi is to be deducted on gross salary or basic salary.
Suppose the salary of 18000/- is decided by the employer then basic is =18000*40%=7200, then i should deduct the esi contribution of 4.75% of employer and 1.75% of employee contribution is to be deducted on basic or the 18000/- salary .
Please give me the clarification regarding the issue.
Rajesh.

Dear Rajesh,
First, ESI is calculated on monthly gross salary.
Second, any employee getting monthly gross salary of more than 15000 does not come under the perview of ESIC.
For any further clarification feel free to write or discuss.

Dear Rajesh,
We have to taken into consideration gross salary only for calculation of ESI. The ESI eligibility amount is exceeded from 10,000 to 15,000.
According to your example,
The salary is 18,000/- and the gross salary will might be 13,000/-
ESI Calculation: 13,000*1.75% for employee
13,000*4.75% for employer.
