its a important part of right to freedom of speech and expression too..
therefore in social compliance audits, people look for evidence both in favor and against it...
i once noticed a security company using a yellow dog contract ie clause which says one will not engage in union activities ....
thats illegal

Dear Murthy,

Group formation is a natural process which cannot be doubted. Please try to find out the reasons for such a happening, consult the workers concerned informally. There may be a number of reasons for the same such discrimnation among workers for any cause, mishandling of workers by one or the other managerial personnel or wrongfully handling the grievances etc.

Please try to look into the causes judiciously, and where found on thewrong footing, try to settle the same. this will develop among them loyalty towards you. If you find them to be notorious, please try to befriend some and contain them. Lastly, try to take the help from your other working friends, disband the group by transferring some to other departments, transfer some others to other posts and befriend others.

Please remember, there cannot be a hard and fast rule for the purpose. You have to develop group of loyality among some workers to develop them as a team which will also take care of the dissident workers, if any.

All the best.

Dear Sir,
Groupism has two faces. One side it helps us to resolve issues instead of facing all employees at a time. Another side Management loose grip among employees.
So, based on ur Organization situation you can mould them. Try to break groupism by offering/ showing benefits or introducing more HR initiatives and creating sense of belonging ness among work force like that.
Am not saying and supporting groupism. if any of your employee facing problem , then Try to reslove issues individually rather then handover to Group. Then we will get good impresion on employee mind.
Try to move closely/friendly to employees. Attend and visit their home and ocassions.
Offer good HR initiatives like awards, rewards, etc.,
As per my knowledge am giving this suggestion. Pl. revert, if any mistake

Dear all,
Being an HR Person I think groupism can be utilised to enhance the competitive skills of an employee and further increasing the productivity of the organisation as a whole. It can also be used as an mode to motivate employees to follow te set objectives.

Groupism saps the energy of the team and spoils the company atmosphere.
Groupism is a symptom which arises due to some underlying cause - either due to favoritism (boss has some pet employees who wield a lot of influence in the company) or lack of transparency or lack or respect or any other such thing. If the rewards and incentives in the company are connected to performance and merit and things are done in a clear transparent way - it significantly reduces groupism.
Try to find out what is the reason behind the groupism you see. It is serious because it can reduce to the company to a mediocre team.
