The Tea Cup

This is a great story that we could all benefit from. It is a simple reminder of how "GOD" is the potter of our life and we are the clay. "GOD" is the shaper of each of our lives and when struggles seem overwhelming, we need to remind ourselves that these struggles serve a purpose in making us stronger, wiser, and in the perfect image that "GOD" has for each of His creations.

There was a couple who used to go to England to shop in the beautiful stores. They both liked antiques and pottery and especially teacups. This was their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. One day in this beautiful shop they saw a beautiful teacup. They said, "May we see that? We've never seen one quite so beautiful." As the lady handed it to them, suddenly the teacup spoke. "You don't understand," it said. "I haven't always been a teacup.

There was a time when I was red and I was clay. My master took me and rolled me and patted me over and over and I yelled out, 'Let me alone', but he only smiled, 'Not yet.' "Then I was placed on a spinning wheel," the teacup said, "and suddenly I was spun around and around and around. Stop it! I'm getting dizzy! I screamed. But the master only nodded and said, 'Not yet.' Then he put me in the oven. I never felt such heat. I wondered why he wanted to burn me, and I yelled and knocked at the door. I could see him through the opening and I could read his lips as he shook his head, 'Not yet.' Finally the door opened, he put me on the shelf, and I began to cool. 'There, that's better', I said. And he brushed and painted me all over. The fumes were horrible. I thought I would gag. 'Stop it, stop it!' I cried. He only nodded, 'Not yet.' Then suddenly he put me back into the oven, not like the first one.

This was twice as hot and I knew I would suffocate. I begged. I pleaded. I screamed. I cried. All the time I could see him through the opening nodding his head saying, 'Not yet.' Then I knew there wasn't any hope. I would never make it. I was ready to give up. But the door opened and he took me out and placed me on the shelf. One hour later he handed me a mirror and I couldn't believe it was me. It's beautiful. I'm beautiful.' 'I want you to remember, then,' he said, 'I know it hurts to be rolled and patted, but if I had left you alone, you would have dried up. I know it made you dizzy to spin around on the wheel, but if I had stopped, you would have crumbled. I knew it hurt and was hot and disagreeable in the oven, but if I hadn't put you there, you would have cracked.

I know the fumes were bad when I brushed and painted you all over, but if I hadn't done that, you never would have hardened; you would not have had any color in your life. And if I hadn't put you back in that second oven, you wouldn't survive for very long because the hardness would not have held. Now you are a finished product. You are what I had in mind when I first began with you'. MORAL: "GOD" knows what He's doing for all of us. He is the potter, and we are His clay. He will mold us and make us, so that we may be made into a flawless piece of work to fulfill His good, pleasing, and perfect will, which we can never escape.

Good one again Sunanya....
Reminded me of a poem I'd read long ago.... If I'm not mistaken it was titled "The Potters Wheel"....was written by Sarojini Naidu's brother....
If anyone remembers the poem or the poet's name, do let me know....

Dear friends,
Namaskar.
There is one and only God who has created this cosmos and has integrated it with natural laws-cause and effect. He is the Creator. He has said to the geedh-live on dead bodies and it does it. He has said to the cheel-live on dead bodies as well as preys and it does it. He has said to the Baj- live on prey and it does that. The sizes of these birds are in decreasing order.
Other gods are created by choices and fancies of humans. Atributes are atributed to them to wrangle and commit crimes in their names for millenia. Am I right?
Regards,
Jogeshwar.

I am not sure if any GOD was created with the intention of getting the shelter or cover or excuse for committing a crime.

Each GOD 'created' had a pupose. The 'creators' of these Gods wanted to glorify / highlight / signify / project / reveal / promote a 'value or a virtue' . . .

Looking at the Hindu Gods .... The TRIDEV

Brahma - Vishnu - Mahesh -- > signify --> Creator - Protector - Destroyer

Goddess Laxmi - Saraswati --> Wealth and knowledge ...

Various Avataars of Maa Parvati / Kali / Chandika signify variopus roles and responsbilities ....

------- ---- -- Moving to the HR angle of this discussion ....

[we are in a HR Forum so we should concentrate on discussions related to HR and should not digress to other topics which automatically become irrelevant on this citeHR]

Every Employee has his / her own role defined in the organisation. No one is insignificant. Every role has its own significance. Right fromt he CEO to the Manager to the worker to even the Cleaner and the sweeper.

Each has to respect adn accept the significcance of the other. The organisation would not function optimally if one of these roles were removed ....

Imagine walking into a company withour a CEo ... or that without a staff of cleaners adn sweepers.

Would you join or want to work in either of these ??

Dear Jogeshwar,
I have been seeing your posts for a long time and some how i feel some skeptism is creeping in when you start replying to few posts.
Am Sorry to put this on record but..............
Your present reply talks about faith and I can categorically say that we are living in hope and Faith.
If you are not living in hope and faith you would not have been working because without hope and faith you would not think that you can live for next hour in that case why working...........
So my dear friend the post which was started was a generic one, let us appreciate the effort that person has put in compling the story and sharing it with us. Let us have some useful discussions at citehr rather than having skeptical comments.
Am sorry if i hurt you but can help it dude.......
Regards

Hello All
I have been reading a lot here about how God is responsible for everything. What then are we wasting our time in HR for? Let us stop this and have the courage to assume responsibility for our lives. If there is any other force influencing events, it is randomness. If we do not behave as thinking men, your God could get very disappointed.

Dear Dr. Jogeshwar mahanta and pippallaram,
Please let's drop this issue here, I don't think a battle of words will solve anything.
Dr. Jogeshwar I don't think pippallaram meant anything bad by his comment on your posts. I personally enjoy reading your posts and expect the best from you.
Pippallaram and other members can directly contact me instead of posting live on the board if they feel any member is not adhering to the policies of CiteHR. I will talk to them individually.
Please remember opinions cannot be seen as facts so don't be convinced about anyone's attitude based on some text posted on the board which does not always express the way things are meant. Also remarks on faith or religion are always subjective and cannot be forced on others, it is best to avoid such discussions and stick to the subject of the website.
Warm regards,
