Dear CHR,
This is regarding the thread created by me named "//..*Cool Guessing Game*..// " which has recently been closed down by you. In my knowledge the thread didnt contain any spam or any offensive content or for that matter anything against the norms of cite hr in my cognizance. I fully understand its your discretion but i would still like to ask you the reason behind closing a starred and active thread?
ps: I have been the moderator of many VBulletin Forums and everywhere i have seen the procedure of providing reason for closing in the last post and then closing the thread.
Waiting for your response.

I think reason is different and without guess work it should be answered atleast to the thread owner... CITEHR do send mail regarding the issue which u sent instead of blocking or closing it...

I haven't copied the info as that was the PPT on Email... & I have got 100 replies on that.....
That was surely not the copied stuff.... Vijeta is absolutly right that they can't close the thread without informing the thread owner....

Thanks

We are closing threads which have become very long - this is being done to avoid server load caused by such threads when someone adds a reply on them - it triggers a series of action on the board like sends out email notifications to all the participants on the thread. While sometimes it is a useful addition to our HR knowledgebase - we are trying to close threads which aren't directly related to HR or have other problems.

Thanks Cite HR,
I do understand the load issue...but just you close some threads many members cant even notice it coz its not in active disscussion...
Its very very demotivating for us...Though as a responsible member i have not stopped sharing my knowledge but i think you should find out better option for this problem..
Its seriously very discouraging for active member who participate with full of enthu and good intention...
Also send a notice to thread owner it will avoid unpleasent surprises. :)
A humble request

Thanks & Regards,

Dear CHR,
You have a valid point. Then why havent you closed this 46 paged thread too, which is of Shayaris, is Shayari a part of HR..if yes then im very sorry my knowledge of HR is very bad:
https://www.citehr.com/78502-strictly-4-shayari-lovers-endjoy-sorry-enjoy-46.html
are you biased or what? ;)
well, going by your technical hitch of long threads creating hassles, can i make a part two of my thread since it was doing great and maybe you can close that too later..lol
do reply, so that i can "act accordingly"
One more thing..u said "we are trying to close threads which aren't directly related to HR or have other problems", if thats so then why have you created the sub forums like HUmour, Day Life etc,. in the first place
WAITING EAGERLY FOR YOUR RESPONSE!!

Hi Vineeta,
As specified earlier long threads are causing an immense amount of server load and threads like the one you mentioned - "STRICTLY 4 SHAYARI LOVERS....ENDJOY..SORRY...ENJOY" which have reached over 400 replies are part of the problem. Let me try to explain again - a reply on such a thread sends out over 400 emails - meaning even if someone says "Nice yaar" - it causes the server to send out over 400 emails to the participants.

I hope you will agree that there are more important issues being discussed which needs the server resources - more important than letting 400 participants know that someone posted "Nice yaar". I hope I have been clear this time.

I would request you to look at the bigger picture and understand why this is being done - there are more important issues at hand than a few threads. Please feel free to start another thread if you wish.

I would like to apologize for the delay in replying - I read your message on my profile which has been deleted for the obvious casual tone used in it. I have two other projects which need my time which are causing a lack of time to reply to support queries - yes in this case I become a bit biased and tend to reply to people with real website interface use issues first.

Yes, many members have already asked for the removal of these forums and I am considering it seriously now - having to spend hours to sort issues members have with threads on those forums don't seem worth the effort.
The initial idea for the HumouR was to let members share HR related jokes - which is clearly not what they are doing. The Day Life forum was meant to be: a place to share your thoughts & to unwind during your "day life". To take a break from HR & talk about what else you do.
But clearly these have become a place to post forwards and jokes - though there ARE a few interesting postings which fit the bill.
