Hi

Frankly only you can answer that question with confidence and believability. For that you need to honestly answer that question yourself. Let me share some pointers as to how to go about finding a suitable answer

- give a brief rational for taking up B.Tech in Oil and Engineering

- link up your work experience in Accenture with your educational qualification,

- then move to your fascination with numbers and accounting that you had exposure to in Accenture. You may also indicate that a senior in Accenture strongly suggested that a degree in finance would help you leverage your technical background when complimented with financial acumen.

You will have to fine tune the broad outline given above depending on the facts. (eg. I have no clue as to what your job profile in Accenture was. Further your rational for choosing finance is also not known to me.)

Obviously the above is just one approach to tackle the problem. I am sure you can give the most convincing explanation provided you have worked it out and personally believe it.

Best Wishes

Hey Jacob,
I really appreciate your answer the way u link it.
But my problem is there is no link in my B-Tech as I studied manufacturing of edible oil.
In Accenture I was a developer working on search box feature on latest Microsoft technology for e-commerce client.
Frankly speaking I don't have any clue how to relate all this.....I will be highly obliged if you can throw some light on this.
Please help me out....

Hi Varun Jha,

The details presented by you is like seeing a jigsaw puzzle.

Perhaps the following questions would help you to find your own answers.

1.0 What is your academic record / rank in school final.

2.0 Your joining Oil and Engineering -

How was this branch selected by you ?

Was it by your choice or by Hobsons choice?

3.0 How did you get the job in Accenture?

Were there any questions about your qualification?

Did you have any idea of what sort of job you would be doing there?

What was rating of your performance in Accenture in three years?

Did you make any exceptional contribution or achievement worth sharing?

4.0 What made you quit the job and take up MBA in Finance?

Was it against a stiff competition or easy to get in ?

At that time were you asked any question about your B.Tech degree and the job?

If you can get very strong positive answers to the above you can project

yourself as an adventure loving, result oriented, successful person.

Every change you made was into a new area and you came out with laurels.

In all probability the interviewers would be questioning the depth of your experience

and your proficiency in Finance.

Prepare well focusing on your specialisation field in Finance and Project work.

Good Luck

Hi
Mr.Raghunathan has elucidated the questions that you need to honestly answer. Once you have the reality in front of you, then you can attempt to make the linkage that you believe should hopefully convince the interview panelists. Try and put yourself in the place of the panel member and ask yourself if the answer you give for a query would be acceptable.
Finally, don't be too tense or worried about the linkages. The last para of Mr.Raghunathan's reply is the key to your success in your interview.
All the best
