dear All,
i have a query about Pl & Cl deduction. Please tell me that is there any particular leave rule that which leave should consider first?
Is there something like if the person is on continuous leave of say 5days then we shuld consider it as Pl but not 2 as casual & rest from 3 as PL?
In my company we have 2 types of leave 1. PL & 2.Leave bank ( CL) . we can avail only 2 Leave bank in a month & it lapses at the end of the yr.
Please suggest me.

Dear Pratime,
Leave policies are basically based on company specific policies and it varies frm company to company. Usually upto 2 leaves at a stretch , it can be considered as Casual leaves (CL) but more than that it is accounted as Paid leaves ( PL). Hence if any of your employees has opted for 5 days leave it should considered as PL instead of CL .

Dear Pratima:

There are three types of leave viz:

-Privilege Leave (PL)
-Casual Leave(CL)
-sick leave(SL)

CL is meant for day to day exigencies to attend to personal or domestic work and can be taken normally upto maximum of two or three at stretch. It can be taken at relatively short notice.

PL is earned after working for certain period of time and gets credited after putting in service of six to 12 months after joining. However, credit of leave is given for the period of work put in. Different organizations give different quantum of leaves ranging between 15 to 30 days PA. This leave has to be properly planned and sufficient notice has to be given say 15 to 30 days depending on the policy of the company. Some companies encourage employees to take PL once in a year, as for as possible. The HR departments are asked to issue the leave calender specially for the managers and above.

Sick leave is taken only if the person falls sick. For SL beyond three days the Doctors certificate is required and when the person joins back he is supposed to give the fitness certificate.

CL and PL cannot be combined. However SL can be combined with PL.

One does not have to follow the sequence for taking the leave. It depends on the purpose and the duration of leave applied. Upto two or three days it can be CL and beyond this period it has to be PL.

CL lapses at the end of the year. However PL and SL can be accumulated upto some period as specified by the management.

Hi All,
As Jhuraney mentioned the CL & PL can not be clubbed
CL can be availed for a maximum of 3 days and specifically intervening Holidays and W offs are going to be part of CL
SL up to a maximum of 3 days ok over and above three days it should be on the recommendations of a doctor and he should be an MBBS normally
PL - over and above 3 days the PL can be allowed but a minimum of 15 days prior intimation should be required, in case of PL intervening Holidays & W offs are not be part of PL.
SL & PL can be clubbed, once the all the eligible SLs are exhausted then the employee can be allowed to avail PL and this is a special case
All the rules are based on the company's leave rules.
Thanks and regards - kamesh
