Dear all, I'm doing a project on benchmarking recruitment practices.
I m having a problem. After collecting the data about the recruitment practices of different companies, how can these practices be benchmarked????
Are there any statistical tools?? Waiting for your responses.

hi bharti
Benchmarking can be done on various bases. For example a finance manager has a bench marking in cost basis. A production manager will have on Quality based benchmarking.
You first clearly understand on which basis you like to benchmark. FOr example, in the recruitment industry, there are various companies whose performance is good. some companies are cost effective. Some companies are good in their practices.
So first decide on the critiria for benchmarking and trace out the leading company in that criteria and start benchmarking that firm or company.
Hope i answered your query

hey,
there are a lot of statistics you can use for benchmarking - depending on what quantitative data you have collected.
ratio analysis is most commonly used - number of days taken to recruit a person, correlating that with number of methods used for recruiting, average number of applicants received using a particular method of recruitment etc.
if you have done cross industry benchmarking, you could use anova, chi square etc to compare and hypothesis.

hey,
Chi square & anova are tool used in statistics for hypothesis testing - if you haven't used them, my advice would be to not use them - its difficult to use properly unless you are very comfortable with the tools.
It tests if the information you have collected (generally you take an average right out of all the data you've got) so it tests if there is significant difference in parameters - say for instance significant difference in training period accross different industries - say pharma, retail, banking etc (just an example).
This depends a lot on how big your sample is - if its to small i.e. less that 30, it won't be effective unless you have very very representative data (i.e. you are in a specialised industry where the total number of companies are less than 30 - basically population size is sample size; I hope you understand all these statistical terms)
You can do some correlation studies like correlating training period with drop out rates etc.
