Dear Sharmistha,

1. You have to go through provisions of Bombay Shops & Establishments Act 1948.

2. In Maharashtra professional tax is also applicable.

3. Pl also go through Maharashtra Labour Welfare Fund Act 1953.

4. Under some of the Acts, power of making Rules has been given to the State Govts. In such cases, procedural matters may differe from State to State.

5. Other laws relating to PF, ESIC, bonus, gratuity etc. are same.

You can have an idea about various laws in Maharashtra from the following link:

Hello Sir,

THANKS A TON 4 ur quick reply n the link forwarded respectively.
However, in relation to this I would like 2 clarify a few more doubts related 2 PF n ESI. As far as I know i)the PF contribution from the Employee's side can be exempted if the employee draws more than 10,000 p.m. Is this case true?? if yes , then is the salary amount correct??. PLz correct me in all posibilities. Furthermore, ii) in case of ESIC is there any such case/condition or clause which states that under that condition the employer if wishes may not contribute its portion of contribution???? if there's any such condition then wt is it?? n wat is the salary range above which the employer may get an exemption?? Wud request ur prompt help once again.
iii) As there r other Insurance scheme options available with General Insurance, LIC, nd private organizations, is it a must that an organization has to Register for ESI even if they provide Insurance (individual or group) facilities 2 its employees available with other private org.????

Plz help me to clear up this silly confusion of mine. I request u al 2 treat it as urgent n extend ur wisdom n knowledge as usual. Thank u in anticipation 4 u quick reply n help.

Regards
Sharmistha
