As far as I am concerned, the best ones are:

1. Orkut - Brings missed ones closer.
2. Google - Shows you the world in a click away.
3. Gmail - Fastest innovation (Actually, Gmail was introduced by Google for internal purposes, and due to its big success, it was made commercial).
4. Citehr - Loads of information on HR.

These are the websites which I use very frequently.

Hey Tom, :)

I have been a member here for almost a year now and have read the majority of the posts, but never got to reply to a lot of posts. I think we all need to give kudos to YOU :D for what you did in your previous awards! I'm sure it has brought those regular members to light who have been major contributors of information, without whom this site would not have progressed as it has.

Now coming to this set of awards, I think it totally depends on the individual's requirements. Like me, I'm a management student, which is why sites such as Google and Citehr are of great importance!

My votes would go to:
1. Google.com (including gmail.com and orkut.com)
2. Citehr.com (I would definitely want to list it as number 1, but the pool of data on Google is far more, so sorry Siddharth sir!)
3. Yahoo.com
4. Facebook.com
5. Limewire.com (hail for all the vast collection of songs and movies I have!)

These are my top favorites!

Radhika :D

Hi Tom & Jerry,

I think you are wasting the potential of Cite HR by treating it as an unwanted site, which goes against its original purpose set by Sid. Just because you have begun announcing the winners of the Cite HR awards, it does not necessarily mean that the winners receive any recognition or added value in their careers.

Merely asking people to vote for the best websites raises questions about the criteria they must consider when voting. Each website is unique, making it challenging to rank them in a top 10 list. Furthermore, websites are often ranked based on the number of daily hits they receive, causing the top website rankings to fluctuate daily. In such a scenario, adult content websites often rank in the top ten due to high traffic volume.

If your intention is to establish Cite HR among the top ten websites, current ratings suggest that it is failing, as people appear to be ranking it near the bottom of the list.

If you aim to elevate Cite HR to the top tier of websites, consider posting valuable HR-related content. By doing so, more people will visit the website, naturally propelling it to the top, instead of resorting to unnecessary posts like the current ones.

Hi all,

Did I say anything wrong? If so, kindly point it out to me.

Hello Preet
Can u please study the meaning of "Knowledge grows when shares”
If Tom is posted a post saying that "share the best websites"
I THINK HIS/HER AIM is fine and not wasting to making the Cite HR as unwanted site.
And i think Tom is not asked to give TOP 10 sites asked to put your best sites only no need to give top 10. and anyway best or TOP 10, Tom going to annouce later right.
Others please comment.

Hi Amit & Joseph,

I appreciate your valued points. What is the purpose of starting this thread? You are saying that Tom asked for only the best sites, and if you know, each individual will vary in their likings, and everyone will give a different opinion.

To vote for the best sites, people should have gone through all the websites (which are in millions or billions). Only then can they decide which is the best site based on its layout, contents, etc. Is it possible?

Otherwise, Tom could have listed ten or twenty best sites as per his rankings and asked people to rate them according to their interests and tastes. If it were HR-related, it would shed more light and be helpful to the HR fraternity.

Your opinion, please.

Hi Preet,

I think this Awards for Best Website is not based solely on its layout or contents, etc. It is based on providing THE BEST INFORMATION/ QUALITATIVE INFORMATION. For example, Citehr is considered the best for HR-related information, and similarly, other sites excel in their respective categories. People do not need to visit all websites; they simply need to vote for their best sites where they receive/gather/give the most information.

Please comment. Mr. Tom, please share your thoughts on the same.

Thanks,
Amit

Hi Amit,

Same thing I told, the best website can be decided based on its contents (you have mentioned it as information) and how it looks, and how easy to access, etc. When you say your choice, it is not necessary that I and others should acknowledge the same. I like different sites as best sites. I have observed in this thread, the people are generally mentioning Yahoo, Gmail, Orkut, Wipro, and Cite HR. Yahoo and Gmail are widely accepted as mail service providers, Orkut, Ibibo, etc., for social networking, and lastly, only people are mentioning about Cite HR. (Just review again the post by the members)

Ultimately, by finding out the best sites, what is Tom going to do? If it is just for info, then why is the result date announced, and what is he going to announce? The best sites? In what order? What things are considered by him for rating them as the best site? (A similar kind of thread about the statistics of Cite HR users, he released a few days back and got very bad acceptance by the Cite HR members)

Is Tom authorized to announce the best sites? If yes, who is the authority given the powers to him?

Anyways, this is a concern of mine and many HR professionals, for Cite HR is not used for its own purpose. If you see, many good members of Cite HR are leaving or not accessing it nowadays because of the poor quality.

The people whom Tom announced as the winners for their contribution are not using Cite HR nowadays because of its poor quality of contents.

There is a thread today I have seen which is "Rajnikanth Facts." No one can understand what that person tried to convey in this or what he/she has spoken about.

Check this out and reply.

Hello every one...

"Website Awards 2007"

This is About Best Website

That means Most Informative Website, Most Qualitative, Most Helpful, Most Useful, Most Knowledge, Most gainful in terms of now knowledge, Facts, Inputs, Ideas, information...

As you are knows Citehr users are not only from India but across the world and sharing there knowledge in HR Topics and also world news.

Before a HR person we all are human beings. We must know other things also.

Example: A U.S person don’t know about yellowpages.com/ Indian railways sites and some of the Indian didn’t know about wikipedia.org or other U.S sites which we all must know.

It's only an example, still more and more sites are there which we don’t know, some sites may save our time if we know, like yellow pages saving time to find the address and phone no.

So let’s people vote there website which they believe it must know everyone.

See may be you know about a simple site like ORKUT but its not guarantee that every one knows, lets vote and share everyone.

It’s my AIM.

May be the words which i used wrong but my aim is to share the knowledge/ good things/ useful things to each and everyone.

And about announcing the results, the results are a list contains BEST of BEST sites, which helps every one to refer.

Regards

Tom

Hi Joseph,

Good to know at least now people are understanding the purpose of voting.

Moreover, you understand the concept of voting. It should have some options, and then we need to vote for it. Otherwise, it is a suggestion board or bulletin board where you can write whatever you want.

When you ask people to provide information about good informative websites, if you ask for the same, then no factor for announcing results will come. People are sharing information about good informative websites.

Is that right, Tom?
