Hi,

I am working as an HR in a hospital in Hyderabad. Here, the management is not willing to provide earned leaves, sick leaves, and there are also not enough public holidays. Is it mandatory to provide earned leave and sick leave? Can anyone help me by providing a leave policy according to the statute?

Hospitals come under the Shops & Establishments Act, and as per this, employees are eligible for 15 days of earned leave, 12 casual leaves, 12 sick leaves, and maternity leaves (for employees who are out of ESI coverage). In this context, communicate to the management about the implications of violating the applicable laws.

You are also requested to first go through the Shops and Establishments Act, understand it, and discuss.
