Sir, I am a state PSU employee who joined in 2016 and have not completed probation. I would like to apply for more government job notifications and exams. The notification states that I have to produce an N.O.C at the time of certificate verification if employed in government/PSU.

Can I get an N.O.C from my present employer for applying for a job exam?

We are not sure of getting the job as it involves exam marks, interview marks, community roster, etc. Therefore, I want to continue applying for government jobs without risking the loss of my current job due to the issue of N.O.C.

I kindly request valuable suggestions and solutions for the issue of N.O.C.

When you are applying, the application itself should have a clause stating that a no objection certificate needs to be attached. Currently, you have to inform your current employer about your intention to apply for another job. There is nothing to fear, as it is your choice to seek another job. Generally, a no objection certificate is usually required when applying for a higher position. However, there may be some hesitation and reservations when applying for a lower category position, but they are unlikely to deny your request, although it may take time to process.

In some applications, you must inform the higher official or the authority delegated with the power to grant you permission to seek alternative employment. In such cases, approval is usually granted without issue, and you will receive a no objection certificate promptly.

In certain situations, you may be required to pay three months' salary or reimburse training expenses incurred during your training. In these cases, you would need to make the payment to obtain the necessary clearance.

Remember, you have every right to apply for a job that offers a higher position than your current one.

Best of luck.
