Can anyone help with the situation below? My friend is working in one of the private companies, and they had my friend sign an agreement on their letterhead, naming it as an employee agreement and calling it a gentle agreement. The employee is asked to stay for a certain period of time, and when the employee wants to leave the firm, HR is either holding the relieving letter and issuing it only when the reason stated is completely justified at the end of the period or recovering a huge amount from the employee. Nowhere in the agreement is a financial obligation mentioned on the letterhead content. How can my friend stop this, and what will be the repercussions? Can they go against them legally?
