The average daily wage limit for exempting employees from paying their share of contribution under the ESI (Central) Rules, 1950 has been raised from Rs. 50 to Rs. 70 per day, effective from 1/8/07. Consequently, employees earning less than Rs. 70 per day, excluding overtime remuneration, are now exempt from this contribution. This adjustment does not impact the employer's share of contribution.
