I am a Master's degree holder. I also have experience in teaching for 6 months and in the IT field for 2 years. Unexpectedly, I got an opportunity to join a Ph.D. program abroad, where I stayed for one year and completed 2 semesters. Due to health problems, I quit the Ph.D. and returned to India. Now, I am searching for a job.

Question About Ph.D. Experience

My question is: will my one year of Ph.D. work be considered as one year of IT experience or not? If not, what should I do about my one year of Ph.D. work?

Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, you have completed two semesters, i.e., a one-year duration, without finishing the course or obtaining a Ph.D. degree. According to your question's answer, you should have gained experience in the research work you have undertaken during this year. However, you may not have the authorization for teaching/lectureship eligibility, which requires being NET qualified or holding a Ph.D. degree.

Your one-year research experience will enhance your skills and boost your career prospects in the IT field.
