Hello, friends! I am pleased to invite you to our monthly meeting for August 2012.
Topic: Measuring Return on Investment (ROI) in Training - "The Why of ROI"
Training evaluation is often conducted at the simplest and lowest level, through feedback forms or "happy sheets" as they are colloquially called. These forms merely capture the immediate reactions at the end of a training program. Reactions are important, but are they sufficient to support your arguments when a greater investment in training is required? What about when a recession hits, and training budgets are slashed? This is where measuring ROI becomes crucial.
ROI informs you of the percentage return you have gained over a specific period as a result of investing in a training program. ROI can be deployed both to justify the cost of training and to evaluate the extent to which the desired result was achieved.
