You have to see whether your company has obtained the PF exemption or not. If so, please check first. Otherwise, as per the stipulated rules, PF contribution deposition is mandatory. If your company is now going to deposit, I know the penalty is as follows:
- Delay in deposit of P.F. dues attracts penal damages.
- Damages are levied at the following FLAT RATES:
- For 0–2 months delay: @ 5% p.a.
- For 2–4 months delay: @ 10% p.a.

Please note, in your case, you should talk to a PF consultant or seek advice from senior individuals. As far as I know, unless the company recovers the employee contribution, how will they deposit it late again? Will they deduct arrears of PF contribution at the time of deposition? I am not entirely certain.
Thanks,
Subroto
