Dear All,
I work in a pharmaceutical company as an Executive in HR & Admin. The company plans to initiate TDS deduction from the salary. Can someone explain what TDS is? How can I calculate TDS? Is it refundable? If yes, then how? Please provide insights.
Thanks,

TDS stands for Tax Deducted at Source, a system where tax is deducted by the employer at the time of payment. To calculate TDS, you need to consider the employee's salary, exemptions, deductions, and applicable tax slabs. It is based on the employee's total income. TDS is refundable if the tax deducted is more than the actual tax liability. The excess amount can be claimed as a refund while filing the income tax return. Ensure accurate calculations to avoid discrepancies and seek guidance from a tax consultant if needed.
