Dear Professional friends,
Greetings of the day,
Could you please clarify my doubt regarding GSLI v/s ESI.
My company is covered under ESI and the employees earning below Rs 15000 are contributing to the same.
and we are paying GSLI also for all the employees irrespective of their salary.
My question is in case of death of the employee who covered under ESI, whether his family is eligible for the claims under both ESI and GSLI.
from some one i have heard that one person can not claim both the benefits.
please clarify me.
thanks in advance.

Dear Shanmukhappa ji,
ESI Scheme and GSLI scheme, both are totally different schemes. The object of both the schemes are totally different.
ESI scheme is as per law. This means it is mandatory in case it is applicable as per law. Whereas GSLI is not mandatory. It is just an insurance by LIC. It is a group insurance. ESI can not be substituted by any insurance scheme. Also, ESI Corporation can not deny any claim on the ground that you are covered by any other insurance.
Hope I have made it very clear. What you heard is totally wrong.
