My brother had been confirmed for the role of Assistant Manager in Axis bank. He got confirmation through e mail and over phone also. But it has been four months since confirmation and still, he has not received the offer letter. He consult with Hr, the hr says that the post has been put on hold and waiting for more days, but now it becomes 120days no response from other sides. What does this mean can anyone suggest??Would he prefer for another company or he should wait for it??

Banks like Axis Bank will not give any false promises. Mail confirmation is already sent to the candidate by the Bank, confirming his selection. Due to this pandemic covid-19 era, there can be some reasons for delay which can be beyond the control of HR or senior management of Bank.
So, the candidate need to await for some more time. At the same time, he can search another job as well, as we have to apply practical wisdom in our personal life.

A job offer put on hold can only mean that company likes you but due to company related issues cant take you on board for time being

All this leave the job seeker in quandry. Jobs are not available nowadays and when after securing the job,such a thing happens, one can well understand the candidates state of mind.

Its only a verbal or mail confirmation stating that he has been selected for the project. There is no offer letter released or any other formalities are put into place, which means to say he is not entitled to employment with the company. Also 4 months is lot of time. The best option is just to move ahead with other prospects keeping this offer aside unless the offer letter is officially released.
The professional approach can be..sending out an email to the concerned HR/Recruiter letting them know that, if they can be helpful by providing transparency on the offer. If they are looking at the possibilities of taking a decision after the pandemic. Look out for other opportunities, and give a hint to the other recruiter stating that you already had an offer from Axis bank and because of the time gap, you have started searching for new opportunities.
