2 20

Hey Nirali,
Normal Distribution curves can be made in MS- Excel.
I am giving an example of normal curve department wise.
First of all, u must be having the ideal numbers for all ratings.
For eg.
In most of the orgn, the ideal percentages are:
Rating 5(Excellent) - 10%
Rating 4 (V Good) - 35%
Rating 3 (Good) - 45%
Rating 2 (Average)- 7 %
Rating 1 (Below Average) - 3%
that means, if in any particular deaprtment there toatal 100 people, then
Rating Desired numbers actual numbers
5 10 15
4 35 42
3 45 38
2 7 3
1 3 2
now u can draw a normal curve by selecting this data in excel sheet illustrating the gap between desired and actual curve.
Graphs can be made easily in excel :
insert --> chart --> Line Chart ---> choose third option amongst the choice of chart.
I hope this info would help you.
in case u still feel any difficulty. we can talk on this further through this thread.
Here is an attachment for your reference.

Fitting the curve is the most intriguing thing I find about appraisals.
Can anyone explain the rationale of trying to fit the curve? Shouldn't you just try to use the appraisal data you have compiled without having to massage it?
