Hi,
Could someone pls. help me in finding out :
1. what is the stipulated time for maintaining records/personnel files of ex-employees? Is there any legal provision that highlights the same?
2. Can we sacn and keep the records? What type of records need to be stored in physical form?

Hi Akansha,
Going by the conventions, personal documents/records required to be stored for atleast two years period. Even, this can be reduced to one year also.
This is required for your internal audit and also to respond to the querries, if any in the form of reference checks etc.
It is suggested that all relevant documetns may please be removed and filed in a seprate box folders or individual files (closed) and the same be retained for a min. period of one year and there on you can dispose them off as applicable.
