Steps for Obtaining Benefits from ESIC
The employee has to visit the ESIC dispensary or ESIC hospital. They are well-maintained and have almost every facility. However, if they find that the treatment is specialized and cannot be provided by ESIC, then they would recommend the patient to any private hospital or nursing home on the panel list of ESIC. In such cases, the patient does not have to pay the treatment charges; it would be auto-discharged by ESIC. The institute just issues a discharge certificate, and the patient has to return to AMO to get a fitness certificate based on the discharge certificate. If ESIC feels that the patient needs more rest, they would allow more leave post-discharge from the hospital or nursing home. The wages and facilities of sickness benefit would be paid by ESIC to the linked bank account, provided that the family members of the IP submit the duplicate copy (issued for the local office) to the local office within time.
Eligibility and Requirements
All the IP has to do is link the Aadhaar card to his/her IP number and validate it, take a print, and get it validated from the employer. An IP who has been paid for more than 90 days in the previous contribution period of 6 months is eligible for all benefits of ESIC, provided he/she is working in the establishment and takes ESIC-based medical leave.
