Dear Seniors,
Greetings.
I work as an HR in a pvt. ltd company. Recently, Director of Operations Assistant has started granting leaves to employees of operational dept. directly. I am only getting a CC of their approved mail.
Is this ok??
As far as my knowledge is concerned, approving leave is the job of HR.

Leave approval is responsibility of the team manager. HR should only have the information.

Dear Poonam000,
thanks for your information. Just need a little clarification regarding say what if the team manager is granting leave (CL)to an employee who has already availed it for 2 times in the same month? Can the very same employee be granted a leave as "CL" for the third time in the current month?.

Dear friend,
First of all leave sanction / approval authority is the direct supervisor / TL or Manager of the employee. HR / Time office function is only a record keeper.
Secondly, the number of leave, availing leave and its limits all are set by the organisation as per their leave policy, in line with certain guidelines set by the prevailing laws.
If your company do not have any restrictions in availing CL in multiple occasions in a single month itself, let the employee enjoy his / her leaves.
So far I have not come through any kind of restrictions organisations impose on taking CLs in multiple occasions in a month, provided concerned depart does not have any problem with that.
For sure, PL / EL has a restriction on availing it - not more than 3 occasions in a year.
Hope I could clear your doubts.
Suresh
