Jayant, as far as I know, there is nothing like a funny bone. I remember reading that the ulnar nerve inside our elbow allows the brain to perceive the feelings in our fourth and fifth fingers. When this nerve is hit against the humerus, which happens when we hit our elbow against something, we get a strange sensation, and that is what we call a funny bone :)

Correct me if I am wrong, please! :icon1:

As of May 2009 current population of India is 6,634,236,512....... Why India is called as under developing country?

India's current population is close to 1.12 billion. India is the second largest populated country after China.

China's population (1.32 billion) is going to stagnate soon with older people becoming a significant part of the population and a relatively lower percentage of the population in the younger age group. In 3 to 4 decades, India will approach China's population size. However, for quite some time, India will have a relatively younger working population.

The world population is the total number of humans on Earth at a given time. In September 2007, the world's population is believed to have reached over 6.6 billion.

- China: 1.32 billion (about 20% of the world population)
- India: 1.12 billion (about 17%)
- United States: 300 million (about 4.6%)
- Indonesia: 225 million (about 3.5%)
- Brazil: 186 million (about 2.8%)
- Pakistan: 165 million (about 2.5%)
- Bangladesh: 147 million (about 2.3%)
- Russia: 143 million (about 2.2%)
- Nigeria: 135 million (about 2.1%)
- Japan: 128 million (about 2.0%)
- Mexico: 108 million (about 1.7%)
- Vietnam: 87 million (about 1.3%)
- Philippines: 86 million (about 1.3%)
- Germany: 82 million (about 1.3%)
- Egypt: 75 million (about 1.2%)
- Ethiopia: 75 million (about 1.2%)
- Turkey: 73 million (about 1.2%)

India, being underdeveloped, has been our long-held belief. For centuries, we looked down on merchants as low-caste people. Brahmins were the most respected, followed by Kshatriyas, then merchants, and finally, the lowest level was the Shudras who did manual labor. Hence, in our society, doing work by hand was never a respected job. We looked down on people who engaged in trade. This mentality has cost us dearly, especially in this modern society. However, times are changing. More and more Brahmins are pursuing MBAs, and hard work is gaining the respect it deserves.
