Hi, I'm Ravdeep, doing my MA in organizational psychology. I need some views regarding leadership. My question is: who makes a better/effective leader - male or female and why? Please don't take it as a gender issue; I want responses from experienced people.

Waiting for your replies.

Thank you,
Ravdeep

You can't say who is more effective, while women and men are equally effective in some settings. This depends on the management's gender. For example, women typically have a more mentoring style in female-dominated professions, while men tend to have a more "command and control" style in male-dominated professions. Thus, all things being equal, men and women are equally effective.

Women are very good at developing employee skills and motivating them to be dedicated and creative, while men are more effective in sports and military settings. Therefore, you can't definitively say who is more effective, as this varies from one job to another.

I agree with you, sir, that it varies from job to job and that male and female leaders possess different qualities. But then why is there a huge difference? Why are there more male leaders than female leaders? Why are women seen as underrepresented as managers?

Females are generally better leaders because in most parts of the world, they have to work harder than men to prove themselves. This makes them more competent. For example, Indian women excel in various fields globally because they are driven to establish their worth in new and innovative ways.

There are only 38 % market coverd by working women and rest all is composed by men's……so fisrt diff is here only then naturally u will find more men leader than a women……u don't see this also there are various natural aspects also involved in this like …..in my own exp I found men are always focusing to their work but in case of wrking women's ..they will not focus to work only as well as they will focus to their family..they will be caring to her kids and all……so coz of dual responsibilities women will be unable to more focus on her work…..and in case of men it will not be hapn ……so I think natural aspects is also involed for less no of women's leader…..
