Why don't all of you have a meeting with your boss and explain to him that his behavior is affecting all employees, and in turn, this will affect the business, potentially leading to losses? Sometimes, you just have to be transparent with top management.

We already had a meeting with him, and he said it's his way of working. We also approached top management. One month before, our COO instructed us to give him 15 days, stating that either we change the individual or we find a replacement. However, that executive's role is solely to bring in business, and we are unaware of any negative remarks he may be making about us to our superiors. Due to conflicts within the team, my management is considering letting the boss take charge.

When I joined, my colleague and I provided all the report formats, plans, and client details as we aimed for success. The two of us generated significant revenue for the company. Now that other recruiters have come on board, he has made changes.

Recruiter.sona, have you ever watched Hero Honda Roadies? That executive played that role to make everyone fight in your company, just like what that man does in the show. So, you cannot do anything more than start searching for another job where politics are less. However, I must say it will be a part of the world, so think twice before making any decision.

Roshni Pratap, I have heard about the blasts in Bangalore. Is it so?

Sometimes, if there are many people in the organization in the same department, management executes a divide and rule policy so that each one can perform equally well. This ultimately results in good productivity for all. Maybe this manager is trying to play this game to make everyone as productive as you. Just stay away from gossip and concentrate on your performance. There is nothing that could match your performance.

Everyone wants to be an employee of a well-established company. However, upon getting employed by such a reputable company, some individuals try to bring in a maximum number of staff of their choice, leading to harassment of existing staff. One reason for this could be the lack of upgrading to the latest technology, systems, or methods, resulting in an unwillingness to change and subsequently lower productivity.

In my case, after working for 13 years, I was transferred to the sales department with the intention of making me resign. I raised this issue with the director of the company, but unfortunately, nothing was resolved. Subsequently, I transitioned from the manufacturing industry to the hospitality sector and am now well-settled, enjoying a different exposure and a better salary.

I believe that if you are self-confident and passionate about working for the same company, you should maintain a record of your job activities and bring them to the attention of higher management to prove that you are an asset to the company. It is essential to avoid arguments and document everything. Alternatively, until you secure a new job, simply occupy your position.

Dear Friend,

The simple policy to tackle such misdeeds is either to fight or to flee. However, before you decide to flee, make sure that you have put in 100% effort in fighting and overcoming the situation so that you will never regret in the future, thinking that if you could have done something else, the situation or result would have turned out positive.

If your efforts do not yield results, only then should you consider making the decision to walk away.

All the best.

I would suggest you concentrate on your work. Politics is everywhere - whether the company is big or small.

Job change is not the solution for it. One should be capable of dealing with politics in the company and move forward.

Boost up your performance. You are in the company to build up your career.

Hi Sona,

As you have mentioned, I think you want to work in the current company only... right? Well, you speak to all the recruiters of your company, and if all of you are facing the same problem, put it in front of the management in a group. If it does not work, then treat your boss as he is treating you people. Make him realize that whatever he is doing is not good for the company and discuss it with him directly along with your colleagues. Okay?

And give your best to the company.

Take care.

Nandita

Hi,

I would like to tell you the best solution. Ignore the fact that your boss is doing nothing and concentrate on your work. Moreover, politics are everywhere. Please don't carry yourself just like that, gossiping. Ensure your performance is not affected by all these things. Though you informed the top management, nothing really worked out. As it is just the beginning of your career and you have to see a lot of things in the corporate world. Just wait for some time, and time will give you the best solution.

Hi Sheetal,

I have gone through your problem. I just want to tell you to hang on because the company is good. Secondly, politics takes place everywhere in the job. Don't get involved in the politics if you can't play it. Just do your work, gain the required experience, and move on. Avoid your executive; he will cause more problems. Enjoy with your team.

Thanks all...

Yes, I will concentrate on my work. But my problem is our team is divided into two parts because of the executive. So, there is no communication at all. They are new joiners and executive reference candidates, not talking with us properly. I don't know what that executive told them. It is the boss's responsibility to make issues solve, but he is not doing that.

Dear Sona,

It is excellent loyalty that any organization can have from an employee. Thumbs up!!

As you have informed everyone, not once but twice. So now, only work as you were doing, in fact more than that, no problem if communication level is low, but your output must not be low.
(It is very difficult to do than easy to say, but nothing is impossible.)

As all said, keep yourself in the cool and calm position; politicking, backbiting, kick-off strategies, etc. are common tools in any organization in the world.

The only thing that can make you happy is your work and reporting of that work to top management.

While doing that, keep on searching for another good position in the market that might be available for you!

Until then, if you will not get the chance, do not make the decision of leaving the organization because, I think, that is what they want from you.

So be firm!
Be energetic.
Be politicking.

Involve yourself with them, like "Cook the Conflict Concept," Cook the Conflict and get your objectives out of it, but they must see you as "changed and aligning with their roles," etc. Try to have some parties with them, lunch, dinners, high tea, etc. Out-of-box parties. Just act! and get your objectives...

It's politicking! But it always requires effort!

By that, you will be able to get this resolved, I hope so.

Do not leave the company! This is something normal happening...

Now, please help me.

4-5 days ago, my boss had a meeting with top management. I don't know exactly what he told them, but he called me and said that your boss complained about you, saying you object to every issue. I replied, "No, sir, I am doing my work." Sir said that we know you are a good performer, so we don't want to lose you. We will find some solution.

When I came back from Sir's cabin, my boss asked me why Sir called me. I replied that I would talk with you later.

Now, please help me. What should I do?

Only incompetent bosses used to employ such tactics. The best way to expose their incompetence is to consistently bring them to the table for discussions on professional issues, company improvement, and process enhancements. The discussion table is where you can address unprofessional, unethical, and incompetent behavior in a respectful manner. Though this approach may take longer, it is the only way to permanently resolve such issues.

Hi Sona,

Things seem to be different to me...

Firstly, your working performance is excellent - this is not comfortable for your fellow competitors (I must say). You know, colleagues are not just colleagues. They compete. They bring the excellent worker down to move up in the organization, and this is everywhere. Remember, your problem started when a new person joined your organization. You were not comfortable with your boss's habits of leaving early and not taking care of his team, etc. In good faith, you told these things to this new person, which you must not do in any case. Now, this new person is very clever, and you gave him/her the ammunition to attack you. He must have told your boss the things you shared, but with some additional spin. I hope you understand; he/she does this to advance in the organization and bring you down. Moreover, this person planted some of his references in your organization. I'm sure he must have told your boss that his recruited people would do better work than yours. Those people don't even communicate properly with your team. So, this was the issue at hand.

To solve this puzzle, may I suggest the following:

1. Never speak any complaints (in this scenario) to anyone, not even to your closest friend in the organization. You never know who is where and who is harming you. Ultimately, you are the one who suffers, and you have to handle this situation yourself. Show them that you believe in them, but you don't have any complaints.

2. Try to communicate more with your boss, not about problems, but about the regular activities you perform in the organization. If your boss believes in a divide and rule strategy, he/she may ask for your opinion about certain employees. In that case, always remember to speak positively about everyone. Otherwise, he will pass on your negative observations to the concerned employee, creating more division within your team.

3. As for that person, leave him be. If he talks rudely, don't respond. If his team speaks rudely, ignore them. Focus on your work, and let your work speak for itself. However, only undertake official tasks when your boss assigns them to you. Don't initiate or complete tasks if this person assigns them to you. If this person or his team assigns you a task, simply ask your boss, "Sir, this task was forwarded to me/my team by this person. May I proceed?" If your boss approves, go ahead; otherwise, don't. This approach will boost your boss's confidence in you and make things easier. It will also prevent that person or his team from taking undue credit for tasks completed by you or your team.

4. Regarding the incident where your boss's boss called you and mentioned that your boss was unhappy with your performance, and when you returned, your boss inquired about the conversation, you replied, "We will talk later." You should have addressed this with your boss at that moment. This is a management strategy. If you want more from a good employee, imply that their work is unsatisfactory. There is a chance your boss had not discussed anything with his boss, and they have numerous pending tasks with few employees to complete them. In that case, your response should have been: "Sir, are you saying there are additional tasks I missed? Please let me know, and I will ensure they are completed."

I will continue later; it's 9:30 am, and I have to head to my job. Hope your situation improves.
