Hi all,
I have completed PGD-IR&PM (Part-Time) with a duration of 1 year. Now, I am planning to pursue an MBA through distance learning for my career growth. However, I am confused about whether to pursue an MBA or not, considering I have already completed PGD-IR&PM. Would an MBA add value to my future growth?
If you do not recommend pursuing an MBA, please suggest other professional courses that I should consider to enhance my career and professional growth. I am looking forward to your suggestions.

Hi, Soma.
It's good that you have completed PGD-IR&PM. However, I think you should consider completing an MBA as well. It will not only do no harm but will also add value to your career. Nowadays, companies are specifically looking for HR professionals with a specialization in HR. Although what you have done will certainly serve the purpose, an MBA will undoubtedly enhance it.

As you are aware, IR & PM itself cover a wide area of functions, including Human Resource, Industrial Relations, Personnel Management, and Administration. When it comes to getting a job, I don't think that an MBA could necessarily be better, except for the advantage of being shortlisted by big companies that specifically ask for MBAs. Apart from this, it is essential to have read all the required books during your period of studies.

Hi Soma,
Your confusion is understandable. As you have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, you can focus on the manufacturing sector and become an IR specialist. You can also pursue a career as a welfare officer and then progress further. Instead of pursuing an MBA, you can gain knowledge from websites like CiteHR and HR.com, upgrade your understanding of legal matters, and handle disciplinary cases. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If you notice any mistakes, please overlook them.
MBA is not mandatory; it can be beneficial for entry-level positions. However, if you still wish to pursue it, you can consider enrolling in distance education courses offered by institutions like Symbiosis, which is a reputable institute for distance MBA programs.
