1) The first thing is to enter into an agreement for the opening of the store. The nature of the agreement depends on the case, like a lease agreement, leave & license agreement, etc.
2) After that, obtain a trade license from the respective state.
3) If you want to play music in the store, acquire a music license. Music licenses are obtained from IPRS and PPL (both agencies).
4) Register the store under the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective state. (Currently, registration in Delhi has been put on hold by the State Government.)
The above steps are necessary from a legal point of view.

For a music retail store:
- Obtain Shops & Establishment license from MCD (if in Delhi) or local registrations for cities like Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Pune.
- Acquire PPL & IPRL licenses to play music inside the store.
- Have Establishment PF number & ESIC number in place.
Regarding food:
- Obtain a PFA license for a restaurant.
- Secure a contractor license if the number of contractor's labor is high.
