Developing KRAs for School Leadership
Hello, I am a teacher with the additional duty of Excellence Coordinator. My work involves strengthening the systems and processes of the school for continuous improvement. I am tasked with developing KRAs and a Balanced Scorecard. I have researched online and developed KRAs for teachers, safety moderators, club coordinators, sports teachers, and academic coordinators. However, I need to develop KRAs for the Principal and Vice Principal. I realize I have started from the opposite direction. Can you assist me in developing KRAs for the Principal and Vice Principal?
Creating a Balanced Scorecard
Secondly, I need to develop a Balanced Scorecard. We have a vision statement, and I need to lay the groundwork for developing Objectives, Long-Term and Short-Term Goals, KPMs, and KPIs. I urgently need guidance and support.
Thanks and Regards,
Bindu Ahuja

Top-Down Approach for Developing KRAs
You have really started with the bottom-up approach, whereas the approach needed is top-down. You should first fix the BSC of the institution and derive the KRAs of the Principal/Vice-Principal, cascading down to the lowest level. Now that you have prepared the KRAs for teachers, develop a comprehensive KRA directory by listing all areas. Individual members can then choose what suits them.
Gathering Stakeholder Input
Before developing the BSC for the school, gather input from stakeholders (management, students, parents, society, teachers, and other staff) using SWOT analysis. Use this information to evolve the growth model of the school. Only after considering these inputs can the BSC be framed; otherwise, it will remain wishful thinking.
Establishing KRA Targets
Based on the targets set in the BSC, establish the KRA targets for teachers. Without the BSC, there is a danger of losing key perspectives when drafting KRAs. Once you finish this exercise, please share it with us for our views.

Dear Sir, thank you very much for the guidance and support. We have conducted a SWOT analysis for teachers, students, and parents. Surveys have been carried out, and all data has been thoroughly analyzed. Objectives, short-term (ST), and long-term (LT) goals have been established. I have developed a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) type of system, with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) setting targets, which we have been implementing for the past 7 years. We continuously track results and create action plans to address any identified gaps. Several improvement projects have been initiated to bridge these gaps.
However, to be honest, I lack confidence in my current efforts. I am committed to doing things properly and am eager to learn, despite not having completed any courses in this field. While I receive support from the SLT (comprising the Principal, VP, and Coordinators), their time is limited. Therefore, I believe it is essential for me to fulfill my responsibilities diligently to achieve the best outcomes.
If you would like to review the work we have done, I am happy to share it with you. I understand that individuals like yourself are often busy, and I am grateful that you have taken the time to respond to me. I personally believe that sharing knowledge leads to greater learning experiences.
Stay blessed and continue sharing.
Thanks and Regards,

Further to the views expressed above, keep in mind the four perspectives on which you need to create your Balanced Scorecard (BSC) model - financial perspective, customer perspective, operational efficiency perspective, and development perspective. From these end results will flow your Key Result Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Dear Sir, I have attached KRAs (Teachers, Sports teachers, safe club moderators, HODs of different subjects, etc.) and appraisal forms. Kindly see the attached files.
Working on BSC. I will mail you just after finishing. I have attached my old BSCs and the revised one (half done). We have changed our VMV this year.
Actually, I am not a professional. I am just a teacher with additional responsibility. But I am happy because I am learning many things.
You can also share BSCs of your schools. The more we share, the more we learn. I will take permission from my Principal before sharing. You can also share.
Thanks and Regards,
Bindu Ahuja
