Hi all, after a long time, I am saying hi to you people and sorry for the gap. I have a doubt. My office is situated in Hyderabad, and a few employees are working in different cities. We don't have any offices except in Hyderabad.

Professional Tax Payment Query

Now my question is, where do we need to pay the PT? Is it for Andhra Pradesh or other states where the people are working? We don't have registration there either.

PT Payment for Partial Attendance

If an employee's gross salary is 20,000 per month but he was present for only two days, is there any need to pay PT for those two days if the net salary is less than 15K?

Please kindly advise as soon as possible.

Understanding Professional Tax Deduction in Hyderabad

First, I understand that your office is situated in Hyderabad, and there are a few employees who are reporting there. Their names are also in the register of the Hyderabad office. According to this, you have to deduct the PT as per Andhra Pradesh regulations.

Whatever salary you pay, if it does not come to the PT slab, then there is no need to pay. PT is deducted as per the gross salary pay. For example, if the employee works for two days, then according to the two days' salary, you have to check the slab.

Andhra Pradesh New Profession Tax Slab W.E.F From 1st Feb 2013

THE ANDHRA PRADESH TAX ON PROFESSIONS, TRADES, CALLINGS AND EMPLOYMENTS ACT, 1987

1. Salary and wage earners whose monthly salaries or wages in Rs:
- (i) Up to 15,000: Nil
- (ii) From 15,001 to 20,000: 150 PM
- (iii) Above 20,000: 200 PM

Could I get information on how to register for Professional Tax (PT) in different states? Our company is headquartered in Bangalore, and we have employees working in various parts of India. Until January 2013, we used the Bangalore slab to deduct and pay PT for all employees, irrespective of their work location. However, we recently discovered through CiteHR that this approach was incorrect as each state has its own PT slab, leading to employees potentially overpaying.

I would appreciate it if you could guide me on the process of registering for PT in other states or recommend consultants who can assist us with this task. It is crucial for us to address this promptly as there are pending remittances since January.

Compliance with Local Office Regulations

It is understood that we have a registered office at one location and operations in different places. We are currently paying wages from the registered office and need to comply with the rules and regulations of the local office. Additionally, there is no requirement to pay the Professional Tax.
