Hi all,

Recently, I joined an organization. It's a startup company, and I'm working as a recruiter. We recently closed a position with one of our clients. However, after all the formalities were completed, we discovered that the candidate was fake. We were all surprised and concerned about this issue.

How can we overcome these types of problems? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Pavanisiri.

For quick investigation, you may go for reference check as well. Otherwise, you may have a contract with your client stating that we may charge extra for background verification. There are 4 types of background verifications:

- Educational Verification
- Address Verification
- Criminal Verification
- Employer Verification

You may choose accordingly.

Thanks,
Sejal

Dear Pavanasiri, It has been noticed to be a regular feature that candidates provide forge documents. To sort this out, one can :- - verify with the referees Regards, Jennifer

Once the candidate is selected for a post, his credentials such as his educational qualification and experience are to be verified. This process involves writing in confidence to the educational institution where he studied and to his previous employer. Additionally, it would be desirable to verify his background from the relevant police station.

If it is discovered that the certificates provided by the candidate are false or if he has a criminal record, his employment can be terminated immediately. This termination should be clearly communicated, citing the reasons. The application form submitted by the candidate upon joining should include an undertaking stating that all information provided is true and accurate to the best of his knowledge. If any discrepancies are found, it could lead to termination of his services.

In the case where the candidate belongs to a reserved category, verification can be conducted through the appropriate revenue officials.

Hi,

You can take the following actions:

1. If you are hiring any consultancy, tell them to conduct reference checks.
2. Make the payment after a certain time span.
3. Talk to the previous employer's HR to gather information.
4. Ensure that all educational and experience letters are brought by the candidates to the interview; this rule is really helpful in selecting the right candidate.
