Reference Culture

Dear HR Elites,

Lately, I have noticed that the hiring process is very biased. Instead of hiring the right candidate, most of the hiring is done through references. Although the vacancy is posted on the company's career portal, it seems that the hiring decisions are predetermined.

What is the role of HR in such situations? Have you also experienced this issue? What steps can be taken to address this bias in the hiring process?

Regards,
John Tungshang

Hi, What methodology did you use to arrive at this conclusion? Even if you took random sampling, from how many companies did you gather data on their hiring process, and what questionnaire was used? It seems like a generalized statement or just a discussion topic!
